We created the Creativity Everything Connection Fellowships program to support brilliant creators in the Toronto area. There are currently seven Fellows and we are highlighting them one-by-one in these profiles.
Funmilola Lawson is a multidisciplinary artist otherwise known as LolaBunz. She is primarily a hip hop musician known as a fierce lyricist, singer, and rapper. Lola’s talent and passion for performing has landed her major performances on platforms such as BET, Toronto International Film Festival, and Canadian Music Week. Aside from her music, she is a spoken word artist and entrepreneur. As the Founder of Let the Silenced Be Heard, Lola facilitates a series of workshops for youth. Her workshops educate young people on utilizing the power of their voices through music and storytelling.
Moving forward with her creative practice, Lola hopes to develop her live performances. She expects to focus on virtual and socially distanced outdoor performances to adapt to COVID-19 restrictions until all precautionary regulations are lifted. She is also eager to collaborate with other musical artists and looks forward to launching her first EP project entitled Chapters.
In addition to her musical abilities, Lola brings her experiences of workshop facilitation, youth mentorship, and working as a female artist to the Connection Fellowship community. With the understanding that networking is essential to success as an artist, she looks forward to learning from other like-minded individuals during her time as a Connection Fellow.
